Transit Workers Mourn Congressman Gerry Connolly

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 is deeply saddened to hear of the death of Congressman Gerry Connolly. On the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and then in Congress, transit workers had a true friend and ally.

Although a son of Fairfax County, Congressman Connolly was a fighter for the whole DMV. Whether it be expansion of the Silver Line, PRIIA funding for WMATA, transforming Tysons, or protecting DC's autonomy, Gerry Connolly left a distinguished record of accomplishments and service.

We join with thousands across the region today grateful for his lifetime of public service. We send our deepest condolences to the Connolly family during this difficult time.
