Transdev okay with paying their Fairfax Connector workers least in the region

Contract talks slowed to a crawl last week between ATU Local 689 and Transdev during a bargaining session on Friday. The company has once again failed to provide a comprehensive and realistic counter proposal to the Union’s key economic priorities, which include higher wages, better sick leave, retirement security, and improved vacation days among other things. Additionally, when confronted with evidence that even under the company’s proposed wage increases for the new contract, Fairfax Connector employees would still be paid the least in the region, Transdev’s representatives replied that they simply don’t care.

“It is disgusting that Transdev has yet to provide a full counter to the Union’s reasonable economic proposals. Our Fairfax Connector members are dedicated professionals who deserve to be paid better. It appears that Transdev does not truly value its team members at the bottom of the ladder. Local 689 expects Transdev to provide a full counter offer to our proposal, thus revitalizing the contract talks. Our patience is wearing thin,” said Local 689 President Raymond Jackson.

In addition to their shameful stance on employees’ wages, Transdev refused to budge on most of the unaddressed contract language the Union believes needs to be improved. The two sides are scheduled next to meet on December 15th. The current contract expired November 30th but there has been no work stoppage.
