Tentative Agreement on New Contract Reached Between Local 689 and National Express Transit

ATU Local 689 reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with National Express Transit late yesterday afternoon. National Express is currently contracted by WMATA to provide MetroAccess services. Currently, the contract covers 263 employees working in Maryland and Virginia.

Through the bargaining process that began in early October of this year, Local 689 successfully negotiated improvements to the current contract which will better benefit its members, and improve their livelihood.

The Union has now begun the process of preparing a final copy of the tentative contract that will then be presented to Members for a ratification vote.
