CHEH TO FREEZE CITY WORKERS' PAY
DC city workers may soon be experiencing some of the hardships faced by those in Wisconsin. In in an effort to
balance the budget DC Mayor Vincent Gray has proposed taxing residents who make more than $200,000 a year.
An opposing proposal supported by Ward 3 Council Member Mary Cheh would freeze pay for all city employees
(except members of the Washington Teachers Union). Cheh's proposal is supported by fellow Council members
Kwame Brown, David Catania, Jack Evans, and Vincent Orange. Community and labor activists are urging those
concerned to call Cheh at (202) 724-8062 “and tell her to support the Mayor's tax proposal and stop trying to
balance the budget on city workers.” The group "Save our Safety Net" is planning a Reality Tour on Wednesday.
