Congresswoman Comstock is a one-term congresswoman who earns $174,000 a year, has worked six 5-day work weeks since the beginning of 2016, and has yet to write a bill that has been signed in to law. The Congresswoman is in no position to critique work efficiency.
As reflected by her quotes in the story, the Congresswoman believes the answer to all of Metro’s problems is to cut wages and benefits while attacking the right of Metro’s workforce to have a union and a contract. She is wrong. Comstock should be standing with the workers of Metro, many of whom reside in her district, instead of waging a fight with them to appeal to her right-wing extremist supporters who seek to make Metro worse.
Local 689 is committed to working to secure a dedicated funding source for Metro so that the future of our system is not dependent on the whims of either political party. We invite Congresswoman Comstock to join us in that fight instead of attacking the employees of the system who are working toward solution.
