WMATA Board Chairman Jack Evans, Virginia’s Christian Dorsey and others on the board bent over backward last week to lavish Mr. Wiedefeld with praise he didn’t deserve and gave him a raise he has not earned. The chairman owes the tax-paying public an explanation as to why they were so eager to lavish Mr. Wiedefeld with praise when, by his admission, he is clueless on how to make Metro better. Safe, affordable and reliable public transit is more than a catchphrase, it is what this region needs and deserves. It is also something Mr. Wiedefeld is incapable of achieving. The workers and riders of Metro deserve better.
