Do not be afraid to contact your Union when you feel you have a grievance.
The U.S. Supreme Court has held that under the Weingarten Rights, you have the right to Union Representation. Do not feel pressured by Management to have a disciplinary meeting without Union representation (you are protected by law!).
You have 15 business days (Monday – Friday) to file a grievance after discipline
Your fifteen days starts from the date the event happened (called the Date of Occurrence); the date you were disciplined; or the date you were made aware (such as overtime not being on your paycheck). Weekends and Holidays excluded.
Go to your Shop Steward first.
